Goals

Design a series of event flyers for *Spirit World*, a Tuesday night DJ series at Ottobar Upstairs, using creative visuals that evoke the event’s playful and ghostly themes while aligning with venue branding.

Contributions

Developed two distinctive flyer designs for separate Spirit World events. For the first flyer, crafted an ethereal, ghost-inspired visual featuring a floating child-like figure and sound waves emerging from an ear to subtly reference the sonic element of the night. Applied chromatic aberration, color shifting, and slight text misregistration to enhance the spectral tone. Incorporated Ottobar’s iconic cat and cocktail logos for brand consistency.

For the second, holiday-themed event, photographed Ottobar’s large cat poster from the venue staircase and reworked it in Photoshop to create a high-contrast, glowing aura effect. Added a playful Santa hat to the cat and carried over the Spirit World branding with a smoked, ghostly text treatment to match the Christmas-meets-spirits concept. Maintained visual consistency while introducing a festive, whimsical twist for the season.

Outcomes

Delivered a memorable flyer series that reinforced the Spirit World event identity and resonated with the venue’s community. Enhanced event visibility and engagement with creative designs that reflected both the ethereal and celebratory aspects of the series. Strengthened design collaboration with the Ottobar Upstairs team and promoter.
